The Comic Home Journal. London: B. W. Young [Amalgamated Press]. No. 375. 12 July 1902.

Vagrants Larry and Bill, indignant that the Mayor ignores the hungry and destitute, steal the food destined for the King’s Dinner and redistribute it to the poor – to the King’s manifest approval. When this strip was invented by Tom Browne in 1897, he envisioned the two characters as a tall, thin soldier and a short, chubby constable. By now – drawn by Tom Wilkinson – they have joined the legion of wily tramps in British comics.
