Jester. London: Amalgamated Press. No. 1868. 28 August 1937.
Following a series of “picture-dramas” loosely based on the screen persona of Gary Cooper (“The Trail of Vengeance”, “Sunken Gold”, etc.), Jester now embarks on a series of Gary Cooper westerns, beginning with “The Oregon Trail” commencing on 21 April 1937. Artist Alan Gelli here seems constricted by the old conventions of adventure strips, using camera angle (point of view), movement, speech balloons and the standard long captions (which he probably did not write himself) in an uninventive manner. The Gary Cooper character is recognizable by his fringed buckskin gloves. See also H28 and H29.
